I am passionate about supporting people to live happier, more fulfilled lives through Mindfulness and Meditation and its core concepts.

 

Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) utilises both Mindfulness and Cognitive Therapy as an effective intervention to overcome recurrent depression. Developing awareness to negative thoughts patterns is one of the key aspects to overcoming depressive episodes. Research has shown that people suffering from depression all experience negative thoughts. This often results in affecting how people feel and how they behave which often leads to inactivity, demotivation and immobilisation. MBCT has many effective interventions and strategies to support people to overcome the debilitating effects of depression.

 

Mindfulness has empirical evidence to support its effectiveness at coping more effectively with depression, anxiety and stress.

 

Changes can be seen in the brain in as little as 8 weeks from people in engaging in Mindfulness Mediation programmes.

There are many benefits of Mindfulness Meditation including stress relief, improved concentration, better management of troublesome thoughts, increased energy levels, reduced insomnia and improved learning ability and memory.

 

I offer 1:1 Mindfulness and Meditation sessions which can incorporate some aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which is a very effective intervention for managing depression, anxiety and stress.

 

As a qualified Therapeutic Counsellor I offer counselling sessions and I am a full member of the British Association of Counselling Psychotherapists (BACP). I adhere to the ethical framework of the BACP and I work under supervision. I have recently completed a 3 year counselling placement in an agency in Maidenhead.

 

I offer Person Centred Therapy sessions which has the therapeutic relationship as it’s foundation. Supporting people to overcome their difficulties by having unconditional positive regard and empathy for them offers very favourable conditions for the client to address their troublesome difficulties in confidence.

 

By having an understanding of how the client views the world from their unique frame of reference offers a non-judgemental and empathic basis for the therapy.

 

Dissolving client’s conditions of worth by supporting the client to develop an authentic self-concept is one of the aims of Person Centred Therapy. This approach supports the client to reduce their anxiety as they no longer deny having certain experiences into their awareness which can move the client to become a fully functioning person.

 

Person Centred Therapy can support people to address and overcome many difficulties including: depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low self worth, self harming, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), weight loss and weight gain, insecurity, inferiority complex, emotional pain, lack of self-confidence and addictions.
